The focus was on the upcoming changes due to the Waste Incineration Ordinance (AVV), which will come into force on January 1, 2025.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to the AVV, from 2033, municipal sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants with a design value of 20,000 population equivalents (PE60) or more must be incinerated and the phosphorus it contains recovered. This procedure makes a decisive contribution to securing valuable raw materials and supports the sustainable circular economy. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A highlight of the event was the presentation by Oliver Loebel, Secretary General of EurEau, who provided insights into European initiatives relating to sewage sludge. He outlined future developments and emphasized that many decisions still depend on the priorities of the new EU Commission. <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The sewage sludge conference provided an ideal platform for experts to exchange ideas, discuss challenges and develop solutions together.
