At the 10th Congress of the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), everything revolved around two central topics: the safety of sewage sludge disposal and the recovery of phosphorus. The congress, which brought together numerous experts from politics, business and science, offered exciting insights into current challenges and solutions for water management. <\/p>\n
One highlight was the technical excursion, during which around 80 participants visited a state-of-the-art phosphorus recycling plant at one of the largest thermal waste treatment sites in Germany. The plant attracted a great deal of interest as it is an example of how innovative phosphorus recovery technologies can make an important contribution to conserving resources. <\/p>\n

It was a valuable experience to contribute our expertise in these areas and at the same time gain new impetus for the further development of our own solutions. <\/p>\n
A particular highlight was the speech by Andre Baumann, State Secretary in the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg Ministry of the Environment. He made an urgent appeal to municipal decision-makers to build new sewage sludge mono-incineration plants in good time and to consider phosphorus recovery in the process. “Now is the time to act. However, the necessary plants cannot be built by politicians, but only by municipal or private-sector project sponsors,” emphasized Baumann. <\/p>\n
The congress impressively demonstrated how important it is to work together on solutions to meet the legal requirements for phosphorus recovery from 2029.
